Myths Surrounding Affiliate Marketing
One problem that anyone will notice once they become familiar with it is that there are too many self made expert. Below we will expand on some of the silliest myths that are dominating affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is old but it is fairly new so the masses assume that any form of internet marketing is a scam. One of the major reasons that there is a high failure rate in internet marketing is because people approach it as a some sort of get rich quick scheme and not for the business that it is. If you expect to jump in and make a million dollars overnight then I suggest that you change professions; a poker player, maybe. After you put in the time and effort it takes to learn what is effective and how to apply it; you too will be able to make money overnight like some of the more experienced affiliates. If you are looking for the ultimate form of freedom and leisure then affiliate marketing might be for you.
But at the same time, it’s 5 times more work than your regular job. At your job you know exactly what to do and how to do it, however; affiliate marketing is running a business and requires more skills. With your own business comes great responsibility, so prepare yourself by learning the exact skills that lead to success. In business nothing beats having a plan. Affiliate marketing is your own real business, a multi-level marketing program is working for an organization and 100x harder to succeed in. If you find anyone selling you a product that teaches you how to become a super affiliate ‘easily,’ stay away from it. Affiliate marketing has a huge potential for those who are willing to approach it as a business and take it seriously, is this you?
Don’t believe it if you are led to believe that you have to have a ton of traffic to make any money. Many new marketers believe that a site’s success is all about traffic when in reality conversion rates are more important. Targeted traffic will make you far more money than focusing on sheer volume. Put your efforts into targeted traffic and watch how your conversion rates soar. Be aware of who your market is; everyone doesn’t buy the same things so learn to target groups of people. It is not uncommon for marketers to make a lot of money with a little bit of traffic as long as it is targeted.
Your visitors wanted to be treated better than to have to witness a swarm of flashing banners when they hit your site. This myth is prevalent among new affiliates because they don’t know any better. Your site is not a fireworks show so ditch the idea of flashing lights everywhere and attract your visitor’s attention to things that count. Skip the banners, instead put all of your efforts into answering your searcher’s/visitor’s questions and pointing towards something that can alleviate their suffering.
All in all, affiliate marketing is easy for super affiliates because they work hard towards it, so make sure you avoid the myths that we discussed.
