A landing page is the first thing that a visitor sees after the click on your link form a search engine’s results page. You want to make sure that this page is attractive, well put together and that it draws the attention the attention of the reader so that they don’t just click the back button and go somewhere else.  The best way to accomplish this is to avoid the following common mistakes.

1. Not Useing Proper Headings

If your page is just a flat blob of text separated into paragraphs it will quickly drive any visitor from your landing page in a hurry. Rather, highlight, underline, bold, and separate text to bring the key-points of your page to the reader’s attention.

Remember the only reason that the reader is on your page is because they are looking for something. This should also be the purpose of your page. Make sure you give this information to them and that it is easy to find.

3. Missing Call To Action

At the end of the page you should always have a call to action. Just ask your self “What do you want the reader to do once they read your page?” Once the reader has finished scanning through your page they will most likely look at the very bottom for a call to action.

4. The Ad Copy is Too Long

It could also be a case that the reader never gets to the bottom of the page to read your call to action. Make sure you remove any unnecessary ad copy. Keep the info centered on the product you’re promoting.

5. You Want Too Much Information From The Reader

If the reader needs to request information via an opt-in form make sure you ask as less information as possible. Most people are not willing to give their personal info such as address or phone number in exchange for more information.

6. Minimize Distractions

When sending visitors to your landing page you should have a goal in mind. If the information that you have on the landing page deviates from this goal you should remove it.
